Boo.com Flop Clarification
Posted by Josh | Filed under Interesting Stories
Talking to my friend, and business assistant Chelpixie today over lunch at FiRE + iCE in Providence, I started relaying the classic fail of the infamous Boo.com, and it occurred to me that most of what I was telling was mostly hearsay, so I decided to see what the Wikipedia had to say about it and sure enough, I had some of the facts wrong. In some ways I was far too conservative in the description of the catastrophe, and in other ways, I was a little exaggerated. I had thought they had squandered $27 million, but apparently it was more than that, and I had heard that they had only sold a key-chain, but they had actually sold more than that. Either way, the net affect of the flop is actually much steeper than I had understood. (Where I got the number $27 is unknown)
So, Chel, I’m sorry I was off on the facts.
