Josh Mormann is taking a break…
Posted by Josh | Filed under Hope for the Future, The Josh Mormann Show
Hi Everybody,
I’ve been pretty under the weather lately, and I’ve narrowed it down to a few things, but mainly I just don’t get enough sleep, and I do too much without proper diet or exercise. I’m healthier than some maybe, but I really need to get back on track before I can really begin to move forward with the show. I have plans to turn the show into something more listenable and universal, I want to bring the show to a larger audience, and in order to do that I have a lot of planning to do, and I really don’t have that kind of time to begin with, let alone when I’m trying to put a show out regularly.
So, I’m going to be seeing doctors, and dentists, and personal trainers, and I’m looking to find a new place as well, so I’ll be working on getting myself back in order for a while, and then I’ll work out a better format for the show.
I will record episodes periodically when I can get a good one together, but a regular schedule will probably not be possible until the end of the summer, or mid Autumn. Please feel free to comment on the show notes, or call in on the line, and try to spur me on here and there. I can be pushed to do a show for you now and then, if you are persistent with me.
If you have great things you want me to cover, let me know. I’d be happy to cover your projects, and/or any news you find particularly interesting. I will however be mostly on hiatus for the immediate future, and until I can get some personal items in order.
Mysterious Universe looks like it’s drawing to a close too, so I feel that maybe Benjamin Grundy’s winding down is having a bit of an affect on me.
Thanks for all your downloading, and your comments, and suggestions, and encouragement. I haven’t left, but I will be cutting way back for a while. I will be talking to you again soon. Don’t you worry.
All the best,
- Josh Mormann
The JMS 138: An Interesting Stream of Consciousness
Posted by Josh | Filed under Reciprocal Affection, The Josh Mormann Show
I go from not being impressed by my performance to Phil Hine’s Condensed Chaos, to my limited understanding of Patent law.
Music Played:
* Good Vibrations by The Beach Boys
* Pay the Toll by Adam Green
The JMS 137: Walking Home From Work
Posted by Josh | Filed under The Josh Mormann Show
I recorded this show on the walk from the office to the Walpole Commuter Rail T Station. I basically sound way too winded, it scares me. I sound like I’m hiking up a mountain.
Embarrassing, though when I think about it now, I really think the windedness has much more to do with the constant cold I’ve been dealing with, not my over all health. I do the walk every day.
Music Played:
* Vultures by Adam Green
* Momentum by Aimee Mann
The JMS 136: Shine On You Crazy Black Strat
Posted by Josh | Filed under The Josh Mormann Show
I have really decided to not care about “Pod Safe” Music these days. And as such, I’ve been playing things I like rather than just things that are “safe” I figure as long as I’m in the “unknown” realm of podcasting, I’ll do all I can to get in trouble, because I’m confident that I won’t.
Music Played:
* Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd
* Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden
Other Items Mentioned
* Guitar World Magazine
* Pink Floyd: The Black Strat: A History of David Gilmour’s Black Fender Stratocaster
* Boston
* Johnny D’s Uptown Restaurant and Music Club
* The Orleans Restaurant in Davis Square Somerville
The JMS 135: Beautiful Day for Jack and Pep on the Porch
Posted by Josh | Filed under The Josh Mormann Show
I decide to keep today for me and I believe I chose a beautiful day to do so. This episode includes my fixing the door of the refrigerator while pouring a Jack and Pepsi.
Music Played:
* Gay Bar by Electric Six
* Blue Lagoon by Inkas Wasi
The JMS 134: Sleepy Update from Bed
Posted by Josh | Filed under The Josh Mormann Show
I have finally gone Mac at work albeit Mini, and is now on to phase one of going open source for web apps. You probably won’t care too much, but I do play some good illegal music. The Beatles and the Stones!
Music Played:
* Something by The Beatles
* As Tears Go By by the Rolling Stones
Stuff Mentioned:
* Ubuntu
* Magento
* Mac Mini from Apple
* IOGear KVM Switch
The JMS 133: On the Porch Talkin’ Mac Minis
Posted by Josh | Filed under Meaningful Labor, The Josh Mormann Show
On the Porch with the field recorder again. Talkin’ all kinds of issues at work. I decide to get a new Mac Mini, and bring it in, and forever replace the need to bring the laptop back and forth. I already bought the KVM switch for it like three or four months ago, so it’s time I really began to use the thing for what it was intended, not just extending my laptop at work. I’d rather not bring the laptop at all.
Music Played:
* Beyond Belief by Elvis Costello
* Lay Your Head Down by Keren Ann
Josh Has a New Cell Number
Posted by Josh | Filed under The Josh Mormann Show
Hi E’body,
I was hoping to put a show out to you all tonight, but I spent all of show time dealing with Apple and At&t switching my iPhone over from a pre-pay plan to a regular plan.
My new cell number is +1 (617) 840-5044
I’ll be back on my game tomorrow. It looks like we might have Heath Finnie on the show too!
Thanks for your patience with both my bad shows, and my no shows. I hope to get you all a good fix soon!
I’ll be talking to you soon,
- Josh
The JMS 132: I Wax a Little Trippy

It was a combination of my weekend fever dreams, this afternoon’s visit to Seven Stars Book store in cambridge, and my decision to play some Tool on the show today, that put me on the subject of altered states of consciousness. So once again, I fumble my way through an erroneous attempt at explaining my experiences with the nature of consciousness, and the paranormal. It is only exacerbated by my cold-distorted speaking voice.
The redeeming values of the show are found in the Tool at the beginning and the end, and a clip of a speech by Terrence McKenna.
Music Played:
* Jambi by Tool
* 10,000 Days by Tool
The JMS 131: From the Bed
Posted by Josh | Filed under Me, The Josh Mormann Show
Show given from the prone position in bed, not feeling well, so there has been a gap in my show production the past couple days, but since many of you have gotten used to my laziness I figure it shouldn’t hurt your feelings too bad. I still intend to be daily, but was unable the past few days to execute due to illness and responsibility.
Music Played:
* How am I Different by Aimee Mann
* Pagan Poetry by Bjork
